“This is Men’s Business”: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Men’s Groups and Social and Emotional Wellbeing
收藏资源简介:
This thesis examines Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men's experiences of men's groups and their role in supporting social and emotional wellbeing. Applying an Indigenous research paradigm, three studies were conducted. A scoping review identified limited research centring men's voices, despite evidence that these groups support connection and healing. Two qualitative studies engaged Yarning to explore men's lived experiences, highlighting how these groups provide safe spaces, support Indigenous identity, collective healing and relational repair. Overall, the thesis demonstrates that men's groups challenge hegemonic masculinities, support collective wellbeing and are vital community supports requiring stronger recognition in research, policy and practice.
