Through the analysis of microbiome and metabolome, we found that there was an imbalance of intestinal flora in MM patients, and the abundance of butyric acid-producing bacteria and the content of butyric acid decreased. The key candidate strain Clostridium butyricum ( C.butyricum ) was isolated from healthy people. Through fecal bacteria transplantation and single bacteria colonization experiments, we found that C.butyricum and butyrate can regulate the balance of intestinal flora, improve intestinal barrier function, reduce the side effects of bortezomib on the intestine, and increase its efficacy on MM.
