Allium roylei Genome sequencing and assembly

Allium roylei is a wild diploid species belonging to the genus Allium. It is native to the Himalayan region and has gained attention for its strong disease resistance, making it a valuable genetic resource for Allium crop improvement, particularly in onion breeding programs. This Bioproject presents the whole-genome sequencing and assembly of Allium roylei to explore its genetic basis for disease resistance traits and to facilitate comparative genomic studies within the Allium genus. The genome data will contribute to understanding key defense mechanisms and support the development of resistant onion cultivars through molecular breeding strategies.
