Next generation sequencing to find new medical targets for the treatment of conduit stenosis

To find new medical tagets for the treatment of conduit stenosis, 11 pulmonary bioartificial valved conduits were explanted from patients with a congenital heart defect and next generation sequencing was performed using material from the thickened stenosis-causing conduit wall and the respective leaflet. Deregulated genes between 9 samples from the thickened conduit-wall and 8 leaflets were determined and all receptor tyrosin kinases were selected for further experiments. Overall design: Next generation sequencing of mRNA from thickened wall tissue and leaflet material from stenosed explanted pulmonary valved conduits.
