Coastal Dune and Lake Foreshore Rehabilitation Project Stage 1

Hand removal of target weeds using best practice bush regeneration techniques will be employed to combat coastal and lake foreshore degradation in the Budgewoi Beach area of Wyong Shire. Dune stabilising fences will provide the foundation for successful vegetation establishment and growth, while fencing accesses will better direct human traffic onto the beaches to protect the dune restoration works. Planting tube stock and direct seeding will occur in selected areas. Collection and propagation of local provenance material in a local volunteer nursery facility will complement plantings and natural regeneration. Signage and field days will aim to increase the local communityÍs knowledge and participation in local natural resource management.
