VPRS 12447 Investigation into Gippsland Industries Ltd.

This series consists of an investigation into a holding company in Gippsland. This investigation was part of a larger enquiry into freight anomalies under Section 92 of the Constitution. Freight costs and freight subsidies were of considerable concern with regard to encouraging the development and decentralisation of industry in non-metropolitan areas.The records contain statements and memoranda regarding the company and summaries of its financial position. It provides an example of the concerns of the Division of State Development and the responses of non-metropolitan industries to them.
