资源简介:
A single piece of groundstone and an abrader from site 35JE355 were washed to recover pollen and phytoliths that might inform concerning the use of these tools. This site is located along both banks of Lake Creek, Deschutes County, Oregon, where Highway 20 crosses the creek. The Lake Creek Site complex is situated on the east side of the crest of the Mid-Oregon Cascade Range. Previously conducted radiocarbon dates place occupation of this site between approximately 2080 ± 60 BP and 3100 ± 70 BP. Local vegetation is dominated by Douglas fir, white fir, ponderosa pine, lodgepole pine, and western larch. In 1997, PaleoResearch Institute conducted pollen, phytolith and starch grain analysis on a piece of ground stone from the site which was determined to have been used to process grass seeds (Cummings, 1997). This current analysis will provide additional tool and resource utilization information.
