Assessing the Deontology-Utilitarian Index: Questions about Validity

A partial replication of Conway and Gawronski (2013), in which we tested the Deontology-Utilitarian Index created therein for: 1) Reliability, as to whether the items must be presented in the same random order used by Conway and Gawornski; 2 ) whether the use of a Likert-type scale would change correlations with related scales; 3) Validity, as to whether we could replicate the scale correlations (with conceptually related measures of empathy and cognition) used to establish statistical validity; 4) Validity, in the form of adding Chronbach's alpha analyses missing from the original article; and 5) whether adding items on physician-assisted euthanasia would statistically strengthen the DUI.
