Election2020 is a Twitter dataset centered on the 2020 United States presidential election. To advance the understanding of political discourse and empower the computational social science research community, the authors decided to publicly release this large-scale longitudinal dataset of U.S. political and election-related tweets. This multilingual dataset contains hundreds of millions of tweets, tracking all major U.S. political trends, participants and events between 2019 and 2020. It covers the entire period preceding and spanning the Republican and Democratic primary races, monitoring all presidential candidates from both parties in real time. Afterwards, the dataset focuses on presidential and vice-presidential candidates. The dataset release is curated and documented, and will be updated weekly until and beyond the November 3, 2020 election.
