Distinct and overlapping immunological responses to SARS-CoV-2 and Mycobacterium tuberculosis identified by single-cell RNA-seq of co-infected whole blood

To determine distinct and similar aspects of the human immune responses in the blood to Mycobacterium tuberculosis and SARS-CoV-2 infection or concurrent infection with both pathogens. Human whole blood samples were infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis and/or SARS-CoV-2, or left uninfected, for 24 or 96 hours. Infected samples were compared against the uninfected sample at each time point and overlapping/distinct responses were examined between infection conditions.
