Record of persons appointed to various Government departments detailing name, date of appointment, position, by whom appointed, with notation as to resignation, dismissal, death etc. and successor. This volume was produced in 1829 (Watermark 1828), presumably for Governor Darling when he was investigating the organisation of the civil service. It is chiefly concerned with government officials under Darling, some of whom were, of course, appointed before his arrival. Departments, with dates of first and last appointments listed are: Governor's Office (16 Jul 1825-24 Nov 1827); Lieutenant Governor - Executive and Legislative Councils (4 Sep 1823-29 Dec 1828); Colonial Secretary and Department (30 Jun 1820-29 May 1828); Surveyor General's Department (1 Jan 1812-12 Nov 1828); Commissioners for Apportioning the Territory (23 Jun 1825-15 Feb 1828); Land Board (10 Jan 1826-12 Apr 1827); Colonial Treasurer (28 Oct 1823-24 Dec 1825); Auditor General's Department (8 Nov 1824-1 Oct 1828); Department of Customs (Feb 1814-1 Dec 1828); Department of Internal Revenue (1 Apr-22 Oct 1827); Post Office Establishment (15 Nov 1819-8 May 1828); Surveyor of Distilleries and Establishment (30 Mar 1824-1 Jan 1828); Director of Public Work, and Establishment (17 Jan 1822-28 Jun 1828); Department of Roads and Bridges (6 Jan 1826-1 Nov 1828); Mineral Surveyor Establishment (29 Mar 1823-25 Aug 1826); Judicial Establishment and Law Office (Feb 1814-15 Nov 1828); Department of Sheriff (13 Jun 1822-31 Mar 1827); Gaolers including Phoenix Hulk (Jun 1815-20 Mar 1827); Coroners (2 Mar 1811-3 Nov 1827); Medical Establishment (8 Aug 1815-12 Dec 1827); Master Attendant and Establishment (5 Feb 1820-1 Jan 1827); Police Establishments (19 Sep 1816-19 Oct 1827); Superintendent of Convicts and Convict Establishments (1 Jan 1823-4 Oct 1827); Agricultural and Stock Establishments in the Interior (1 Apr 1822-13 Jul 1826); Penal Settlements and Out Stations with their Establishments (17 Mar 1821-24 Nov 1827); Colonial Botanist (1 Jan 1821-6 Dec 1825); Colonial Store (18 Feb 1826-25 Jun 1827); Superintendent of Clocks (17 Jan 1822); Government Astronomer (1826); and, Benevolent Asylum (1822).(4/1675). 1 vol.
