资源简介:
Background: The establishment of Ae. albopictus in the Torres Strait Islands poses an ongoing challenge to dengue control in these islands. Additionally, these mosquitoes threaten to spread to mainland Australia. Attractive targeted sugar baits (ATSBs) have been proposed as a control strategy for outdoor mosquitoes like Ae. albopictus. This dataset was collected for a study with the aim to quantify the abundance and sugar feeding status by Ae. albopictus over time and across different islands in the Torres Strait. Methods: Aedes albopictus was sampled by sweep-net collections in village and bushland habitats across two islands both in the mornings and afternoons. Samples were analysed to determine adult abundance as well as fructose prevalence and content by cold-anthrone test. Sampling stations were characterised by vegetation surveys and included the prevalence of flowers and fruit, and canopy cover. This dataset consists of: ·      Mosquito data summarized by sampling effort (.csv)·      Individual mosquito fructose content (.csv)·      Vegetation structure (.csv)·      GIS locations (.csv)There is also a pdf document containing the data dictionaries for each table. .csv files are also available in open document format (.ods)
