Heat Transfer Enhancement of Double-Pipe Heat Exchanger Using Novel Vortex Generators and Graphene-Based Colloidal Suspensions

This research project investigates the thermal performance of double-pipe heat exchangers by employing passive heat transfer enhancement techniques. Specifically, it examines innovative vortex generators creating swirling flows and graphene-based nanofluids containing tiny nanoparticles. One design featuring perforated sinusoidal vortex generators shows significant improvements in heat transfer while causing less pressure drop increase. Additionally, graphene nanoplatelet nanofluids exhibit promising heat transfer capabilities, contingent upon resolving fouling concerns. The results of this study are significant for enhancing the efficiency of heat exchanger systems. They also have broader applications for improving the design of various devices that rely on effective heat transfer.
