We identified the changes in gene expression profile in hyaluronan-induced spheroids to elucidate the mechanisms of drug resistance of extramedullary disease in multiple myeloma. Overall design: We cultured human myeloma cell lines KMS12 and MM.1S with hyaluronan under shear stress to facilitate cell cluster formation and subjected them to gene expression profiling using an Agilent GeneChip Array with corresponding myeloma cells cultured without shear stress as controls.
