BIOmarkers in NEuropsychiatric SYmptoms (BIONESY): a multicenter nation Survey and a systematic Review

The present DB includes the answers of the participants to the national survey ‘BIOmarkers in NEuropsychiatric SYmptoms (BIONESY)’. The BPSD Study Group of the SINDEM designed a survey to investigate the current use of biomarkers in the BPSD assessment in the clinical practice and their potential correlates. The survey consisted of a semi-structured questionnaire, divided in two parts. The first part aimed at assessing the working setting of the participants, including the profession, geographic area, academic or hospital nature of the institution and years of experience in cognitive disorders. Then, the participants were asked about their clinical and research experience in biomarker use for the diagnosis of cognitive impairment. The participants were also asked to describe the clinical tools used to assess BPSD and declare their experience in BPSD research. The second part of the survey was focused on evaluating the perception of the participants about the possible associations between the occurrence/severity of different BPSD and different biomarkers used in the clinical practice. Finally, the participants were asked whether they considered useful to increase the use/knowledge of biomarkers to predict the occurrence/severity of BPSD in clinical practice. The questionnaire included either closed (yes/no) or multiple-choice responses.
