Inertial Measurement Units for Handwritten English Alphabets

This dataset was developed by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi. It aims to capture the dynamic motion patterns of handwritten English letters via Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs), with a particular focus on the diverse writing styles prevalent in India. The dataset comprises data from over 100 participants, covering both uppercase and lowercase English letters, and is intended to improve the accuracy of handwritten recognition systems. During its development, multiple parameters were recorded using IMU sensors, including participants' height, gender, and the time of data collection, among others. This dataset is suitable for pattern recognition research, particularly for advancing handwritten recognition systems across multilingual and multicultural contexts.
