South Africa (2010): A Qualitative Research Study - Exploring Motivations amongst Service Providers for Joining a Branded Reproductive Health Network

This study aims to gather information to inform the WHP's recruitment and retention strategies for the branded network. Recruiting service providers into the network and retaining them over time requires familiarity with their context and the challenges associated with providing reproductive health services. This qualitative study aims to explore service providers' motivations for joining the branded network. More specifically, the objectives of this study are to: Obtain an understanding of the context in which medical practitioners work and the challenges they currently face in providing reproductive health services; Identify motivations for becoming a member of a reproductive health network and to understand medical practitioners' expectations of such a network. Ten telephonic interviews were conducted with service providers in Gauteng, the Free State, KwaZulu-Natal and the North West.
