To survey the eukaryotic diversity at different lake water column depths, a fragment of the 18S rRNA gene V7 region was amplified using the universal primer set 960F (5'-GGCTTAATTTGACTCAACRCG-3') and NSR1438 (5'-GGGCATCACAGACCTGTTAT-3') from DNA sampled from GF/C filters originally collected for chlorophyll-a analysis.
