This dataset provides top-of-atmosphere (TOA) reflectance from FY-3D MERSI-II after radiometric degradation correction, along with aerosol properties retrieved using the Land General Aerosol (LaGA) Retrieval algorithm, including aerosol optical depth (AOD) and fine-mode AOD (AODF). For ease of comparison, this dataset also includes the uncorrected TOA reflectance, as well as the retrieved AOD and AODF using the uncorrected TOA reflectance. The paper describing the radiometric degradation correction and aerosol retrieval methodology is currently under review at IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing (IEEE TGRS) and is expected to be published in the coming months. The dataset spans the period from 2019 to 2024 and covers northern China, Japan, and the Korean Peninsula. It offers orbit-level temporal resolution and a spatial resolution of 10 km (aggregated from 1 km to improve the signal-to-noise ratio). The dataset uses the WGS-84 coordinate system and provides orbit-level, pixel-by-pixel latitude and longitude data to facilitate georeferencing. The aerosol data include AOD and AODF retrievals for all quality assurance (QA) levels, as well as those flagged with “Good QA” only. The TOA reflectance data includes MERSI-II measurements from 11 spectral bands ranging from 412 nm to 2130 nm, cloud masks, solar and viewing angles. The figure below shows a comparison of AOD and AODF retrievals before and after radiometric degradation correction, validated against AERONET ground-based observations in East Asia. The first row presents AOD and AODF retrieved using the uncorrected data, and the second row shows those retrieved using the corrected data.
