Temporal dynamics of gut microbiomes in urban Amazonia

We carried out longitudinal gut microbiome sampling of 24 adult individuals of urban Amazonia to understand microbial communities' compositional and genomic stability in a non-industrialized urban population. A total of 48 fecal samples were shotgun sequenced using Illumina NextSeq 500 platform and analyzed regarding microbial taxonomic and functional composition. Metagenome assembly was carried out to track strain replacements across time points and characterize community stability of gut commensals.
