Substitution of concentrate mixture with dried brewery's grain on biological and economical performance of 50% Dorper crossbred shep

The experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of substitution of concentrate mixture with dried brewer's grains on biological and economic performance of  50% Dorper × Menz crossbred ram lambs fed native pasture hay as basal diet. The experiment was conducted in RCBD with five treatments, and initial body weight and age were used for blocking. The treatments were; T1: supplemented with 400g Concentrate mixture; T2: supplemented with 300g dried brewery’s grain and 100 g concentrate mixture; T3:  supplemented with 200g dried brewery’s grain and 200 g concentrate mixture; T4: supplemented with 100g dried brewery’s grain and 300 g concentrate mixture; T5: supplemented with 400g dried brewery’s grain. Feed intake was not affected by the substitution of dried brewery’s grain with concentrate mixture, however, ME intake was reduced as concentrate mixture was substituted with dried brewery’s grain. Substitution of 75, 50 and 100% of concentrate mixture with dried brewery’s grains had greater (P < 0.001) body weight gain than 100% concentrate  supplemented group, and substitution of 25% concentrate mixture with DBG had an intermediate value. Hence, sole DBG or a mixture of DBG with a CM can be used for supplementation growing 50% Dorper crossbred ram lambs.
