Experimental data on Analysis of ram sperm metabolism

Considering the differences on sperm metabolism among species, we aimed to use the innovative technology Seahorse XFp analyzer (Agilent), to assess both oxygen consumption rate (OCR), as an aerobic metabolism index, and extracellular acidification rate (ECAR), as a glycolytic index, in fresh ram spermatozoa, in order to delineate the main metabolic strategies used by ram sperm to obtain energy and relate these indexes with other sperm functional parameters such as mitochondrial membrane potential (assessed by JC-1) and sperm motility.
