Alexander disease is a neurodegenerative diseases caused by mutations of GFAP, an astrocyte-specific gene. We used single cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) to analyze the diversity of astrocytes. Overall design: Cells of hippocampi of GFAP-hGFAP mice (60TM line, n = 3 mice) or WT mice (C57BL6/J, n = 3 mice) were isolated by a papain-based protocol, and analyzed using scRNA-seq.
