Dataset Summary
The SorTex Pre-Sorting Image Dataset is an image dataset developed within the SorTex project and focuses exclusively on the pre-sorting of collected material. The dataset contains images of objects that occur in the early sorting stages of municipally collected textiles.
The purpose of the dataset is to support the development, testing, and evaluation of manual and automated methods (e.g. computer vision and AI) for quickly and accurately determining whether a collected object is:
textile
non-textile
a separate product category (e.g. shoes or accessories)
The SorTex project is coordinated in Sweden by Wargön Innovation and is funded by Interreg Öresund–Kattegat–Skagerrak and the Västra Götaland Region.
The dataset is intended as a foundation for circular textile management and resource-efficient sorting.
The class structure reflects practical decisions that need to be made early in the sorting process.
