The consumer survey data was collected in 2018 from respondents in low- and middle-income households key urban consumption zones and rural districts in the state of West Bengal in eastern India. The key information obtained was dishes consumed during different eating occasions (i.e., breakfast, morning snacks, lunch, afternoon snacks, dinner, and special occasions), frequency of consumption of each dish by eating occasion, purchase behavior and food access, and attitude towards food. Information in this data is a subset of the consumer survey conducted in 2017. This abridged version was conducted as a pre-experiment survey among households who participated in the behavioral experiment in 2018.
