16S rRNA gene (DNA) and RNA (cDNA) along a boreal terrestrial-riverine-estuary continuum

In this study, we followed the Romaine river in North-Eastern Quebec, Canada, as an example watershed over several years (2015-2018) and seasons (spring, summer, autumn). Our overall objective was to understand microbial succession, assembly processes, functional relevance and interactions with dissolved organic matter along a terrestrial-hydrological continuum. We did so by comparing the total DNA to the reactive RNA assemblages.The project is part of a PhD thesis and thus subsets of samples will be progressively released, as manuscripts are accepted for publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
