Epilepsy in the South Australian Lunatic Asylums (c.1850-1914)

The South Australian Epilepsy Data was compiled from information available at the State Records of South Australia (https://www.archives.sa.gov.au/). Archives relating to the South Australian lunatic asylums (c.1850-1914) were searched, and any that mentioned the words 'epilepsy' or 'epileptic' were photographed and most of the data extracted into an Excel spreadsheet. <br>There are 634 cases in the spreadsheet, and around 565 unique patients (due to multiple admissions). The patient names are de-identified. Given names are provided in full, but surnames only include the first letter. <br>The data was used as part of a Masters of Philosophy, in the Discipline of History.
