Deep Mantle Scattering Reveals Heterogeneity within the Mantle Plume beneath Hawai'i - Supporting Data and Code

This archive contains supporting data and scripts used to reproduce the analyses and figures presented in the paper “Deep Mantle Scattering Reveals Heterogeneity within the Mantle Plume beneath Hawai‘i.” We welcome further analysis and reuse of these results. 01_Waveforms Data supporting Supplementary Figures 3–6 For each of the eight high-quality events identified in this study (20100320, 20100417, 20100624, 20100718, 20100804, 20110207, 20120417, and 20190217), we provide: A list of the stations retained for the final semblance analysis. The corresponding waveforms in .PICKLE format. Record-section plots filtered within the 0.7–1.4 s period band, allowing the waveform quality and presence of scattered energy to be inspected. The complete dataset contains more than 150,000 waveforms and requires over 100 GB of storage, so it is not included in this archive. Waveforms for additional events can be provided upon request. 02_Beamforming Data supporting Supplementary Figures 17–25 and 27 For each of the eight high-quality events, we provide the measured backazimuth and slowness for each subarray, together with the source–receiver azimuth of that subarray. Plots of these measurements are included for verification. We also provide the phase-weighted stacks constructed for each subarray using the measured backazimuth and slowness values. These correspond to the stacks shown in Supplementary Figures 17–24. 03_Semblance Data supporting Figures 2–4 and Supplementary Figures 8–14 We provide the phase-weighted semblance volumes for all 805 events as .npz files. A README.txt file describes the data format and explains how the volumes can be analysed. We also provide a cross-section through each individual semblance volume. We provide an accompanying Python script which: (1) sums the volumes for both the eight-event high-quality subset and the complete 805-event catalogue, (2) identifies the maximum of each summed volume (3) and plots a depth slice through that maximum. 04_Polarity Data supporting Figure 5a and Supplementary Figure 28 For each of the eight high-quality events, we provide the observed scattered wavelet, and the corresponding synthetic reference wavelet. Both are supplied in .PICKLE format. Plots comparing the observed wavelet with the original and polarity-reversed reference wavelets are also included. 05_Velocity_Density_Scaling Code supporting Figures 5b and 5c We provide the scripts required to reproduce the scattering-lobe calculations and the velocity–density scaling relationships shown in Figures 5b and 5c.
