Background CD44 is a transmembrane protein, which plays an essential role for transducing extracellular stimuli into intracellular signaling cascades especially in cancer cells. Recent studies have shown that CD44 may contribute to metabolic regulation. However, whether and how CD44 affects adipocyte differentiation in white adipose tissue (WAT) remain unclear.
