DNA sequencing data of sea surface microlayer bacterial samples collected during the SPLASH experiment in the Louisiana Bight, Gulf of Mexico from 2018-04-19 to 2018-04-25

As a part of CARTHE’s SPLASH (Submesoscale Processes and Lagrangian Analysis on the SHelf) experiment, sea surface microlayer and subsurface samples were collected on polycarbonate membrane filters in the Louisiana Bight, northern Gulf of Mexico on 19-22 April, and 25 April 2018. This dataset contains calculations of absolute abundance from Illumina MiSeq data for surfactant-associated bacteria. Absolute abundance results of surfactant-associated bacteria were obtained via sequencing (Illumina MiSeq) from Argonne National Laboratory and analysis was performed using QIIME (Quantitative Insights Into Microbial Ecology). Also, confidence intervals were calculated using the negative binomial method.
