INSTRUMENT VALIDATION AND TESTING OF AIR CONDUCTIVITY METER

The air conductivity meter is verified and theoretically analyzed by laboratory experiments, and the air conductivity increased by orders of magnitude in an environment filled with radon gas. It is concluded that the radioactive gas emitted from the seismogenic area before and after the earthquake is able to cause an increasement of air conductivity. Firstly, when the bias voltage is 5 V, the output current of the central electrode of the Gerdien-type condenser is measured using Keithley Model 6430 Electrometer. Then Keithley Model 6430 is used as a calibrated current source to test the measurement accuracy of the current amplifier module of the air conductivity meter. Next, the experiment on the measurement range of the air conductivity meter is conducted. Finally, the sensitivity of the air conductivity meter to probable disturbances is examined.
