The main objective was to evaluate whether acoustic cavitation pretreatment improves repeated-batch anaerobic fermentation of potato slurry and mixed FW by increasing substrate solubilization (SCOD) and thereby steering metabolism toward higher and more selective LA production, while quantifying the downstream consequences for caproic acid formation via chain elongation.
