Power functions indicate performance at the 10th, 30th, 50th, 70th, and 90th percentiles (curves from top to bottom). Vertical red bars mark the difference between the 90th and the 50th percentile foreach grade; note that the difference becomes quantitatively smaller at progressively higher grades (as indicated by shorter red bars). Horizontal blue bars link the performance corresponding to the 90th percentile with the corresponding performance at the level of the 50th percentile; this indicates the distance (in years) between the two levels of performance. Note that the distance (in years) increases at progressively higher grades (as indicated by longer blue bars).
