The NbSe₂ TMD structure was modified by exposing it to Mn metal vapor, resulting in the intercalation of Mn atoms between the NbSe₂ layers. This was confirmed by using scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), low-energy ion scattering spectroscopy (LEIS), and low-energy electron diffraction (LEED).
