In order to identify the genes responsible for the yellow petals of Camellia nitidissima, we harvested petals at 5 stages of development, as well as various floral tissues and several non-floral tissues to do Illumina RNA-seq sequencing, and the samples were mixed with the same amount as sample F01 to do PacBio SMRT single molecule real-time sequencing. This comprehensive sampling strategy was designed to capture the dynamic gene expression profiles across different tissue types and developmental stages, thereby enabling us to pinpoint the specific genetic components that correlate with the yellow pigmentation of Camellia petals.
