The objectives of this study were to study the vertical variations of a black soil properties caused by freeze-thaw cycles, and quantitatively correlate soil properties with bacterial (archaeal) and fungal community structure before and after freeze-thaw treatment. The research aimed to better understand how freeze-thaw cycles control the soil biogeochemistry and fertility.
