This study aims to understand the effect of seeding inoculum source on the long-term operation of anaerobic digestion processes. Inoculum from four different full-scale anaerobic digesters were each used to inoculate four continuous anaerobic digesters, which were operated identically for 295 days. Anaerobic digesters performance and microbial community composition and main functionality were monitored over time.
