资源简介:
This collection comprises site data (digital photographs, spreadsheets, specialist reports, scanned trench and context sheets, registers and drawings) from an archaeological evaluation by Archaeology Wales and Wardell Armstrong on land at the Northern Sustainable Placement Area (NSPA), Newyears Green Lane, Ruislip, in the London Borough of Hillingdon. Work took place between 20th May and 21st June 2019 and constituted the first of three phases of archaeological evaluation on the NSPA site (NSPA - Phase 1). A total of 35 trenches were excavated across five fields. All potential archaeological features encountered were tested by hand excavation. The evaluation trenches within NSPA - Phase 1 only encountered one feature of archaeological significance, despite 92 cut features being identified. On the basis of residual post-medieval pottery and CBM some of the features are known to be no earlier than post-medieval. The presence of the medieval field boundary is of low significance to the site but may fit in with wider regional interpretations on completion of evaluations within the wider scheme. The specific functions of the other linears, pits and postholes are not certain, but they may well also be associated with post-medieval agricultural activities. Due to the paucity of the archaeological remains and the largely residual nature of the finds recovered it is not recommended that there be any further archaeological investigation on the site. The dataset should be considered as part of the Northern Sustainable Placement area dataset which also includes NSPA Phase 2 and NSPA Phase 3.
