Staff List of the Examination Unit (Ottawa, 1941–1945) — Structured Dataset

This dataset presents a structured, machine-readable transcription of the staff lists of the Examination Unit (XU) and the Special Intelligence Unit, Canada's World War II signals intelligence organization based in Ottawa's Sandy Hill neighbourhood. The dataset covers 85 individuals active between 1941 and 1945, including personnel of the Japanese Diplomatic Section (JDS), Japanese Military Section (JMS), French Section, and Unit Information Centre (UIC). Each record includes last name, first name, honorific or military rank, section assignment, role or duties, and organizational unit. Fields are left blank where the source provides no information. The data were extracted and structured from the staff list published in: Pepall, D. (2023).
