Dataset of Dotted Lines in Early Modern Editions of Euclid's Elements and Related Works

This dataset accompanies the forthcoming article: Joskowicz, Mia. 2026. Dotted Lines and the Reconceptualization of Quantity in Early Modern Editions of Euclid's Elements. Historia Mathematica. Forthcoming. It contains manually curated bibliographical metadata and classifications of the use of dotted lines and dots in early modern editions of Euclid's Elements and related works. The datasets also include links to digitized facsimiles and metadata describing automatically detected visual elements. The repository contains three linked datasets: classifications.csv: bibliographical metadata and manual classifications. facsimiles.csv: links to publicly available digitized facsimiles. crop_detections.csv: metadata describing automatically detected visual elements. The datasets are documented in DATASETS.md. An interactive catalogue for browsing the corpus is available at: https://elements-resource-box.netlify.app/catalogue The automated detections were generated using the CorDeep algorithm (Büttner et al. 2022).
