Role of Micro Loans: A Case Study of Nuwaraeliya Agriculture Cooperative in Sri Lanka

This study evaluates the effect of micro loans taken from a cooperative society on income development of the members. The study collected data from a survey on 99 members of Nuwaraeliya agricultural cooperative in Sri Lanka during 2015-2017. The study found that the amount of loan taken from the cooperative society has a positive impact on the income change of the members. On the other hand, the frequency of loans has a negative impact on the income change. Also the study documented the perception of the members on micro loans from the cooperative society.
