资源简介:
Amia ocellicauda, the eyespot bowfin or emerald bowfin, is a species of bowfin native to North America. Originally described by John Richardson from Lake Huron in 1836, it was synonymized with Amia calva until genetic work in 2022 revealed them to be separate species (from Wikipedia entry). This sample of a female individual found in Louisiana, United States was procured by Ingo Braasch and Allyse Ferrara to generate a high-quality reference genome for the Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP). Sequencing and genome assembly were conducted at the Vertebrate Genome Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University, led by Erich D. Jarvis, Giulio Formenti, and Jennifer Balacco. Please note that as of August 2025, the taxon for this genome assembly has been updated to reflect the split into two species. The individual that was sequenced for this assembly was originally identified as Amia calva, and after the assembly was published, the sample providers determined that the it belongs to the separate species Amia ocellicauda.
