Roles of bacteria with different nucleic acid content in polysaccharide hydrolyzing

Low nucleic acid content bacteria (LNA) and high nucleic acid content bacteria (HNA) distribute widely in the natural environment. The polysaccharide hydrolyzing activity of LNA and HNA bacteria were studied in laboratory with single polysaccharide addition or two polysaccharides combined addition. According to the substrate preference of hydrolytic enzymes as well as the difference of hydrolyzing sites, the niche allocation of the two bacteria in the hydrolysis and utilization of polysaccharides were determined.
