We reported a microbial consortium with efficient keratinolytic capacity obtained by selective enrichment from a soil sample. To identify the genetic processes involved in the keratinolytic activity and the synergy among community members, shotgun metagenomic sequencing was preformed and metagenome assembled genomes (MAGs) reconstructed.
