WSDOT - Regional Transportation Planning Organizations

Polygons represent the Regional Transportation Planning Organizations (RTPOs). RTPOs are responsible for transportation planning, growth management compliance within their jurisdictions, and the development and adoption of regional transportation plans. The creation of RTPOs was mandated by the Growth Management Act of 1990 and is codified in state law as RCW 36.70a. An RTPO is formed through a voluntary association of local governments to ensure local and regional coordination of transportation plans.
