An F2 population of 252 chickens were produced from an intercross between a male of the Nagoya breed and two females of the White Leghorn breed. Open field behavior was examined in the F2 chickens obtained. Total RNA was extracted individually from the thalamus of top and bottom three chickens selected from each sex of the F2 population. In each sex, the top and bottom three RNAs were pooled as a single sample, respectively. RNA-Seq was performed using the two pooled samples in each sex.
