Haemaphysalis lemuris is a tick that commonly parasitizes Malagasy lemurs. Recently, a few tick-borne pathogens have been reported in lemurs blood, and the vector of those pathogens is unknown. We hypothesized that Haemaphysalis lemuris can act as a vector. In order to develop new lemur management and conservation strategies, knowing how the pathogens are transmitted to lemurs is crucial.
