These are negatives of photographs taken by the Photographic Section of the State Rail Authority. They mainly relate to various aspects of railway administration: Traffic; Way and Works; Mechanical; Signals (see NRS-22474-3 and NRS-22474-4); Electrical; Legal; Public Relations (see NRS-21573-3); and Archives. There are also negatives which relate to buses, trams, and ferries, as well as some covering special events and specific locations.The negatives are arranged alphabetically by prefix which can denote a subject, a branch or a size of the negatives. Both safety negatives (acetates) and glass negatives are included in this collection.The earlier negatives were housed in the State Rail Authority Archives Section where they received a high level of usage.
