Land burned by wildfires in Europe by country 2022

As of August 15, Ukraine has had more land burned by wildfires than any other country in Europe in 2022. The country, which was invaded by Russia on February 24, has lost over 410,000 hectares to forest and wildland fires. This was far more than the average of 17,600 hectares between 2006 and 2021. With the ever increasing threat of climate change, the number of natural disasters has gone up in the past few years. Wildfires have become more common in places that never experienced them previously.
