Root tips are the most distal absorptive roots, with distinct traits regulating their decomposition. Yet, broad-scale decomposition patterns are largely based on aboveground litter, leaving root tip decomposition poorly understood. We conducted a reciprocal litterbag experiment across five biomes spanning boreal to tropical forests, using root tips from 15 tree species.
